The Philosopher questions
What does The Philosopher taste like?
Mostly fruity and sweet, with a noticeable alcohol warmth. It's a strong drink at about 19% ABV once mixed.
How strong is The Philosopher?
About 19% ABV after mixing with ice, stronger than wine, lighter than a neat spirit.
What's the difference between The Philosopher and a French 75?
Both use gin and lemon juice. The Philosopher adds Melon Liqueur, Orange Bitters and prosecco, while the French 75 uses simple syrup and champagne. Both are shaken, but The Philosopher goes in a margarita glass and the French 75 in a champagne flute. The Philosopher is the stronger of the two.
Can I make The Philosophers in a batch?
Yes. For 6 drinks, mix 9 oz gin, 9 oz Melon Liqueur, ¼ oz Orange Bitters and ¼ oz lemon juice in a jug and chill it. Add 5½ oz of cold water to stand in for the dilution from shaking. Top each glass with prosecco as you serve, so it stays fizzy.
What glass do you serve The Philosopher in?
A margarita glass.
