Highball glass

A highball is a tall, narrow glass, and also the kind of drink served in it: a spirit topped up with a larger amount of mixer over ice.

In practice
The glass usually holds 8 to 12 oz. The highball most people picture is the whiskey highball: whiskey and chilled soda water over ice. It's hugely popular in Japan, where a 2008 Suntory campaign revived it as a light, crisp drink to have with food, and many izakayas pour it from a draft tap. Gin and Tonic, Rum and Coke and the Paloma are highballs too. Building them in the glass and adding the mixer last keeps them fizzy. A Collins glass is a slightly taller version.
