How to make a Kentucky Colonel

To make a Kentucky Colonel, shake with ice and strain into a cocktail glass: 3 oz bourbon and ½ oz Benedictine. Garnish with lemon peel.

You'll need

1 drink

Instructions

  1. 1

Chill a cocktail glass: fill it with ice and water while you mix, then tip it out.

  2. 2

Add bourbon and Benedictine to a cocktail shaker.

  3. 3

    Fill the shaker with ice.

  4. 4

Shake hard for 10-15 seconds, until the outside is frosty.

  5. 5

Strain into the chilled cocktail glass.

  6. 6

    Garnish with a lemon twist.

Why shake? A hard shake chills the drink quickly and blends everything evenly.
