A perfect cocktail uses equal amounts of sweet and dry vermouth in place of just one kind, as in a Perfect Manhattan.
In practice
Split the vermouth half and half: a Manhattan with 2 oz whiskey and 1 oz sweet vermouth becomes 2 oz whiskey, ½ oz sweet and ½ oz dry vermouth. It's drier and lighter than the sweet version.
